Be Strong & Of Good Courage

sometimes, we have shared this verse so many times. it may just seemed quite cliche. yet now, this verse seemed much more important to me.

In a single chapter, this phrase appeared 4 times.

"Be strong and of good courage..." Joshua 1:6
"Only be strong and very courageous..." Joshua 1:7
"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your god is with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:9
"... Only be strong and of good courage." Joshua 1:18

i've underlined them in my bible. God constantly encouraged Joshua to be strong and brave. why does God have to encourage Joshua? What is Joshua facing? What does it take to be strong and brave?

"This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success." Joshua 1:8

I want to make my home a better place. How much of my little bit can do to make this little hope come true? How can I help my siblings?

maybe i'm too strong. but a real fact, i'm not that independent after all.

i think this entry is going to be a tribute to Gerald. seem strange but i think he's the topic of my entry here.

today, gerald officially became my brother-in-law. a brother, in law. i do not feel awkward about this term "brother-in-law" because this basically only establishes in law that he is lawfully related to my family.

just like how he honours the Lord, my sister (his wife), his parents & elders, my parents in his speech today. perhaps it is now my turn to honour him for who he is. *sniff sniff*

quoted & re-edited from his speech. it is more than a formality to call him brother-in-law because he is already a brother to me. he knew me when i was P5. that was 10 years ago. to have a good friend, brother-sister relationship is a privilege, God's gift to me.

stands by me.
cares for me.
supports me.
encourages me.

He helps me...
to grow in the Lord.
to see the light of things.
to understand life.
to know myself.

He tells me...
that I am growing.
that it is okay to struggle.
that I'm alright.
that he'll be there to help.
that God is holding my hand
that I must not let go of His hand.

I will be here when you feel like keeping quiet
When you need to speak your mind I will listen

How should I look at all these things? Am i going to let all these be the reasons of my incompetency and the dragging feet in the walk with the Lord?

The fact is not. I told myself NO! I am utterly and absolutely responsible for my own life. To make or break is in my hands. well of course, there're the Lord's blessings but I have my part too.

I thank God for the sanity of mind, thus far...

Life goes on.. and it does.

I want to learn the preciousness of things.. that thigns will be held dear in my heart.

I think it doesnt require a flip of a heart.

why must girls be more emotional? cos in Genesis, God increased the sorrows of Eve.
guys too rational to brush things off? well, they think girls are too crazy being emotional.

A Day with Happiness Chan

i was with ah hui chan almost the whole day.

6am - snoozing.
6.30am - oh no! i forgot to call chan mama @ 6am. we were supposed to go running!
6.45am - chan mama replied my sms. she cant run, groggy.
7.30am - chan mama decided to go study in church. asked whether wanna go eat breakfast @ jalan kayu.
8am - no breakfast. i went back to sleep.
10.30am - woke up. oh no! supposed to meet ah hui chan @ 12nn for lunch.
11.30am - left home.
12nn - reached PS. walked around. ah hui chan not here yet.
12.20 - gayvin came.
12.30pm - ah hui chan came. went to pastamania for lunch.
12.50pm - ah man came. continued lunch.
1.50pm - went to THE CATHAY. bought tickets for DaVinci Code. Sat around to chit chat till time to go movie.
2.20pm - DaVinci Code movie.
5pm - back to PS for some shopping. hunting for canvas shoes.
5.40pm - kathy came. headed to town. on a "canvas shoes" hunting.
7.15pm - found THE CANVAS SHOES at far east. finally. oh, it was ah hui chan's. headed home.
8pm - home. do translation.
9pm - ah hui chan picked me up. went to bishan to find the guys - street soccer.
10pm - kathy's house to bathe. smelly chan mama & guys. headed down for supper. gayvin drove. nearly rammed the opp traffic. nearly killed 5 precious girls in the car (man, kathy, mich, zhihui & me).
10.50pm - KPT opp Punggol Park. Jon came.
11.50pm - home.

so what's my point of "ranting" this chunk of activities?
it's been a while since i have a day out like that. and i enjoyed the day. it was refreshing.
this day is precious and hard to come by. :)
