KL-Malacca Photos28 Dec 05 (Night)
we took a train to KL (8 hours ride) at about 10pm.
in the train it was a meeting of insects. first, there was a huge moth (in the pic). then, was a cockroach. finally, a cricket that sang the whole night through...
i wasnt that terrified though.. :P

things we did in the train: blowing a neck cushion for sleep. instant noodles & hot milo for supper at 1am.

this is the KL's twin towers. pretty cool huh? we didnt go up the building anyway..
we reached KL & found some buildings and shops interesting.
here's one - farmasi=pharmacy. i was tickled.
i think this is a high court in KL. we were quite amazed. it was not isolated. there were actually quite a bit of people at the corridors of the high court.

funny shops in KLCC. juli was funny.. she was so blur that she called lovely lace - lacey love. :P
and so we travelled to Malacca from KL. 2 hours ride. and here is juli on the bed in Accordian Hotel. it's more like a motel. simple enough. we just needed a place to zzzz. :P
this was our 1st meal at Malacca. chicken rice balls. we were quite delighted because this restaurant was just across the road of our hotel. but alas, the food was not up to my standard.

the next morning. here's me, enjoying 2 sunny side ups, a slice of bread & a sausage.
we walked around in malacca. no need for taxis or anything. we started early in the morning probably near 8 plus in the morning. we walked past many rows of shophouses but they were all closed. came to this area with quite a bit of red buildings. one of which is called the stadthuys. it's some dutch building i think. there was a mousedeer statue - a landmark of malacca. Christ church which was pretty.
stadthuys itself is a history musuem. of course, the history of Malacca. found it quite similar to singapore's history. because singapore was also a strait settlement and part of the crown colony. *smirk* but something different about Malacca was that the intervention of Portuguese.
this is St Francis's church i think. it is an abandoned church in its ruins. there was no roof. and what's left in the church are tombstone slabs. this place sends out an memorable feel. i like & appreciate that feeling.
we continued our journey and there was another red building. it belongs to me. :P it's the LAM building. oh well, it actually meant Lembaga Air Malacca. i think it is somewhat like a PUB in Singapore. But now, it is a monument.
we found some standing trucks and trains around. and decided to take funny shots. and there u see a fortress. :P
this is the Istana of the Malacca Sultan. Of course, it has become a museum. it was a really pretty building because of the cravings & structure.
after walking in the area full of musuems, we decided to walk around elsewhere. here you see the road of Malacca. The background picture which the red truck was... that was where we had lunch. i found it quite terrible because most of the makan places, the cooking area is outside, near the mainroad. and the cars are exhausting bad fumes.. imagine that!
we also went to TAN KIM HOCK which was nicely near our hotel too. the red "english" building was stadthuys again. (: and you see those trishaws? we see them everywhere in Malacca and they are prettily decorated. we realised for these trishaws the chinese uncles work in the day whereas malay men work at night. hmmm...
along the night market streets, we found pretty graffti!
MAN's car. the ice sticks machine. the peranakan assam laksa (yummy). the ice kachang. the two glasses of sour plum juice. the peranakan food shop.
this is the night scene of Malacca. the boy that you see in the 1st picture. we passed by him so many times and each time he was so dilligent, twisting the metal wires to do something fancy. so i got juli to take a picture of him. :P the 1st & 2nd photos from the 2nd row are taken at this light & sound thing. it was a disappointment because we expected it to be as good as the egypt's pyramid one.

we checked out early in the morning from the hotel and we took a bus to the Melaka Sentral (where all the international, interstate buses meet - it was convenient). like i said, we took a bus, but it took us 20 mins to find the bus stop because we were given varied instructions to get to the bus stop. oh well! so there we were. photos of me with the things we bought. the different parts of Melaka Sentral that juli went around taking photos of. and us on the bus back home to Singapore (4 hours ride i think). of course, not forgetting chewing gum!
