Treading On The Road Less Travelled
Many were chosen to be disciples. But there was only a few that were closest to Jesus. Those are the true friends of Jesus who loved Him. He loved them in return.
Being a true christian, daring to be different, to move away from being self-centered, to be blameless, to be called the "good & faithful servant", to be declared as the child of God, is no easy task. It is seriously not easy. It's beyond just sharing what was learnt and what we were inspired to do. Inspired? Yes. Inspired but have not gotten down to putting them into actions. That's what most of us are. There are many times we thought we have learnt a good lesson and were inspired to put them into actions... but that's not faith-growing. That's increasing in knowledge. We often have illusions about how we grow & serve. Even if you think you are quite wretched & all, you still have the bit of pride, thinking you are growing. The fact is - you have stayed stagnant.
This is a self-centered world, even in church & at home. What exactly defines self-centered? Being vain, concerned for personal welfare - safety, financial..., being glamourous, being rather prideful to be seen when you are serving, giving glory to yourself defines my understanding of self-centeredness.
Being in a constant struggle while learning to be righteous, discerning & wise, is God's training for me. I am sure that it's God's purpose for me. This struggle molds me to what God wants me to be. Constant struggle? Yes. I believe I will struggle over this even til the day I die. But I take Christ as my greatest example. He was the righteous man. Yet, persecution came. He continued to suffer and struggle yet care for the people til the point of His death. He love us as much as He loved God, His Father.
